Information About 1000 and 2000 Level Classes

MATH 1070:

  1. Textbook Information: There is no textbook required for this course. You are required to have the MyMathLab software which you can purchase online. Details will be given in your syllabus on the first day of the course. The textbook is optional as MyMathLab includes a digital copy of the textbook.

  2. TI-83/84 or greater Graphics Calculator required.

  3. In order to register for this class, you must meet one of the following testing requirements (please see the Prerequisite Exams page for details regarding when, where, and what sort of questions are on the test):
    • Pass the UCD Readiness Exam
    • Elementary Algebra (ELALG) ACCUPLACER score of 85 or higher
    • ACT MATH score of 24 or higher (taken within 3 years of the class start date)
    • SAT MATH score of 560 or higher (taken within 3 years of the class start date)

  4. Registration Information: Once a student has met one of the prerequisites, the student must then complete a Schedule Adjustment Form and obtain an authorization signature from the Department of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences to enroll. You can obtain a signature from Mike Kawai who works in the MERC Lab in SI-130, or from Lynn Bennethum or Angela Beale who are located in CU-600.

MATH 1070-OL1 (on-line):

  1. Exams must be proctored on campus, at a local library, or at another prearranged location. See instructor’s syllabus for more details.

  2. For students who are out of state and are taking an online course, please take the Accuplacer exam at a community college in your area. If you pass, please have the college fax us a copy of your score to 303-556-8550. Otherwise if you have any other difficulties, please feel free to contact Angela Beale, 303-556-6375 or via email angela.beale@ucdenver.edu.

  3. Since you will not be able to register for the course online, please fill out a Schedule Adjustment Form and fax it to us, 303-556-8550. Someone in the department will sign the form and fax it back to you. You are responsible for making sure it is faxed to the registrar's office.

MATH 1080:

  2. TI 89 Graphics Calculator required.

  3. In order to register for this class, you must meet one of the following testing requirements (please see the Prerequisite Exams page for details regarding when, where, and what sort of questions are on the test):

    • Pass the UCD Readiness Exam
    • College Level Math (CLM) ACCUPLACER score of 80 or higher (No longer offered at UC Denver).
    • ACT MATH score of 27 or higher (taken within 3 years of the class start date)
    • SAT MATH score of 620 or higher (taken within 3 years of the class start date)
  4. Registration Information: Once a student has met one of the prerequisites, the student must then complete a Schedule Adjustment Form and obtain an authorization signature from the Department of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences to enroll.
